Coming from Salerno,
the doorway to the Amalfi Coast opens at Vietri sul Mare.
One
of the more notable towns, it faces the Gulf of Salerno and
is dominated by the 17th century church of San Giovanni Battista,
characterized by its majolica-tiled cupola and bell tower.
This town owes its notoriety to the production and craftsmanship
of the artistic ceramics which fill with colour the stores
and workshops lining the town’s alleways
in the center. The manifestations calendar is full of events:
it is possible to assist to the Mostra Premio Internazionale “Viaggio
attraverso la ceramica” during December and to classical
music concerts to the Villa Guariglia during the summer season. |
